WHAT IS THE HARROGATE TOWN SUPPORTERS TRUST?

A Supporters Trust is an independent, democratic, not-for-profit, community-based organisation that seeks to give fans a collective voice in the running of the club.

The Trust represents Harrogate Town’s growing and diverse supporter base. The launch follows the most successful year in Town’s history, with promotion to the Football League in 2020 followed just under 12 months later by the team lifting the FA Trophy at Wembley.

The Supporters Trust operates as a Community Benefit Society (CBS). As the name suggests, a CBS exists for the broader benefit of our community – in this case, supporters of Harrogate Town.

The Supporters Trust is governed by the Financial Conduct Authority and has an elected board and officers. An AGM is held and the Trust’s accounts are fully audited.

Members pay an annual fee and receive a range of benefits. One member = one vote.

  • Honesty

The Supporters Trust is owned and controlled by Trust members who each have one share in the Trust and one vote.

The Trust has a Board, which is chaired by Town supporter Clare Bridge. Other key roles include secretary Maggie Pattison and treasurer Nicola Noble. The Board is accountable back to the members of the Trust.

The Trust will produce audited accounts and, as a CBS, is independently regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

The Trust operates in partnership with the club but is independent of it. The Trust will establish a mutually respectful relationship with the club that provides a forum for constructive feedback and exchange of ideas regarding the issues that matter most to Town supporters.

The Supporters Trust is not for profit.

As a Community Benefit Society, the Trust’s profits cannot be distributed among members or external shareholders.

Each season, any surplus funds will be invested in supporting club, community and/or charity partners.

All supporters of Harrogate Town are welcome to join the Supporters Trust, provided they align with the Supporters Trust’s stated vision and values.

The Trust recognises and respects other fans’ organisations connected to the club and does not wish to impinge on their activities or seek to compete with them.
